I have known Mr Kuan Yap for more than 20 years. He is honest, enthusiastic, and helpful to others with his vast experiences in accounting and financial knowledge. When I first arrived in New Zealand, I felt it difficult and helpless in the face of a new and unfamiliar environment. For years I drove past a Chinese accountancy practice on my way to and from my home. There came a day that I drove into their ample car park, went up to the porch of the cottage and rang the doorbell. I was greeted and welcomed by a Chinese gentleman - Mr Kuan Yap himself as it turned out. I introduced myself and gave Mr Yap a brief summation of my business and of my frustrations. He looked me in the eye, smiled and said, “No Problem!” That day, that moment, those words changed my business and my life. The IRD became pleasant and my bankers, clients and manufacturers harmonised. A few years later, in the Queen's Birthday and Coronation Diamond Jubilee Honours List, Mr Yap was awarded the Queen’s Services Medal (QSM) for services to the community! I wish I could have been privileged, as a customer, to pin that medal on his chest.
